Happy Fall! I’m not going to lie to you all (get it, those two sentences rhymed), I have fallen deep into a gigantic pile of colorful, fall leaves this past month. September was still pretty warm here (Pennsylvania), but that didn’t stop me from running full tilt into all things fall.

Early in the month, my husband and I went apple picking at the spot where he proposed to me. <3 It was a little weird apple picking when it was 80+ degrees out. We worked up a nice sweat walking up and down those hills. But we walked away with a bulging bag of all types of apples.

Maybe you can relate to this. After going apple picking, I always have a moment of panic where I realize I have to figure out what to do with all of these apple. We ended up giving a bunch away, plus I made apple cake, apple oatmeal muffins, apple crisp, and 4 apple pies. Yes, we had a lot of apples. On an unrelated apple note, I also was lucky enough to be invited to 2, yes 2 different caramel apple making events.

I also went with my sister and bought some pumpkins. Plus, I’ve already decorated for fall. That combined with the homemade pumpkin creamer I made, and the maple glazed chicken we had for dinner last night, has definitely topped off my fall experience. Can you tell I love this time of year?

Speaking of fall. The Dark Ruler actually starts off in early fall. After a summer of building up their defenses in Bear Gap, Camilla and a few others (gotta read the book to find out who the few others are!) set off on a journey just as autumn begins to hit.

In my last blog post, I announced that I’d be releasing this book in January 2021 and I made MASSIVE strides during the month of September. I started from the beginning of the book and began the third draft. I calculated that I wrote and edited 18 chapters of The Dark Ruler in the month of September. At the writing of this blog post, I’ve written another 5 chapter so far in October.

I’m happy with my progress, however to hit my November date of sending my manuscript off to my editor, I need to keep hustling. I’m at the point in my editing process where I’m actually starting to like my book. That might sound weird, but the first couple drafts are so terrible that I usually want to throw my lap top out the window. But, with the help of my critique partners, I’ve made some big changes and I’m really liking the direction this book is going.

I will be releasing this book in January. I’ll have an exact date for you soon. I’m really excited about this launch because it will be my first official launch with a brand new book. I’ve been brainstorming a ton of fun stuff to celebrate the release!

It seems like I say this every time, but this will be the longest, biggest book I’ve ever completed. So, I’m going to go all out to celebrate it!
