As promised, today is the day for the official title and cover reveal of my next book. I’ve been referring to this book as The Hated Warwick which was an okay working title but I knew it would probably need to change.

I’ve been doing a lot of soul searching when it comes to my book’s brand. As a writer, that’s not really something I was thinking about when I was writing this series. I sort of stumbled upon my titles and they seemed good. I was pretty clueless when it came to the marketing side of my books. And believe it or not, book titles are actually marketing! Who knew?

I was even worse when it came to book covers. Maybe someday I’ll do a throwback and show you some of my earlier covers. They were beautiful, but didn’t speak to my brand or the genre. I will actually be doing some brand changes to my series here in the next few weeks which I’m really excited to tell you about soon! I digress. You’re not reading this blog post to learn about book marketing (yuck). You want to see the cover!!! And find out what I’ve titled my latest book!! I’m getting there, calm down!

My point is, when I titled this book, I had to look at it critically and with a marketer’s eye instead of a writer who has her head in the clouds. So, I chose a title that speaks to the book’s genre, tone, and is an accurate representation of the book’s content.

So, without further ado…

The Dark Ruler title really sets the mood of this book. Camila is traveling to the capital city of LilyAye. It’s a place she’s never been before and the city certainly holds it’s own set of secrets. Who exactly is the Dark Ruler? Well, you’d have to read the book to find out. 😉 But here is the back cover blurb for The Dark Ruler.

“A wicked man sits on the throne in Elmyra’s capital city, and Camilla is determined to end his reign by any means necessary. Blinded by her determination, Camilla will abandon her life in Bear Gap and join forces with Reed, a man she doesn’t know as well as she thought. Their plan? To kill The Supreme Ruler of Elmyra. The plot to assassinate Quinten Warwick will lead them through treacherous terrain and down the infamous Thief Road to the capital city of LilyAye. Once there, they must join with the LilyAye rebels and find a way to put an end to the country’s dark ruler.”

Thanks for stoping by to check out my new cover! Let me know in the comments what you think of the cover and the title. Do you like that green color? Originally my designer had used a red color theme for the cover, but I’m reserving that for my next book. 😉
