Today is announcement day for my work in progress, where I give you the skinny on my next book! I’ve hinted about it and mentioned it here and there, but it’s time that I officially introduce my 4th book…The Hated Warwick! I wish I could type that with a bit more enthusiasm, but I don’t love that title. The Hated Warwick is just a working title, so it will change before publication day for sure. Even though I don’t love the title, for now, that’s what I’m calling it.
The Hated Warwick is the 4th book in the Camilla Crim series. It begins with Camilla’s journey to the capital city, LilyAye. Once there, she’ll have a difficult mission to accomplish, all while some of her closest friends are back home in Bear Gap.
I was really excited to write this book because it’s the first time I’ve been able to get Camilla out of Bear Gap and really put her in a different setting. In the world I’ve built for Camilla, LilyAye is this beautiful, intricate city with massive wealth. This is an incredible culture shock to Camilla and although in The Bear Gap Rebels Camilla had become ‘top dog’ in her home territory, in this book, it’s going to be totally different. She’s in a new place. She’s essentially alone. And she’s going to be handed a whole new list of rules to follow.
I’ve been asked the question a lot; how many books are in the Camilla Crim series? I plan to write a total of 7 books, yes! 7 books! I actually have plots worked out for all books. So, with book #4, that puts us right in the middle of Camilla’s story. The Hated Warwick is really like turning a corner in the whole series. The end of this book will propel Camilla into a massive shift in her life for the final 3 books. I’m so excited to write the end of this book because it’s opening the door for a whole new world for Camilla.
And yes, I said I’m excited to write it because I haven’t quite gotten there yet. In my last blog post I mentioned that I was about 3/4 of the way through writing this book. That’s still basically true at this point. I have not written the last quarter of the book, although I have it outlined. This past week has been a really tough writing week for me. I’ve hit a point in The Hated Warwick where I’m really stuck on how to get Camilla turned around and back on track.
It’s just some good old-fashioned writer’s block. Hopefully I will get through it soon…
And I better get through it soon because I have an official release date for this book scheduled! Before I announce that, I just want to talk about previous book releases I’ve had. I’ve been publishing since 2015 and back then, I had no clue what I was doing with writing, and book marketing, and launching a book. And still today, I’m certainly no expert, although I have learned a lot. So previous book releases have been very lack luster.
This time around, I’m shouting this book from the roof tops! I’m so excited to have all of you along for the journey with me as I launch Camilla’s 4th book.
So, the next book in the Camilla Crim series…. The Hated Warwick (working title lol)…. will be released on…. 9/20/20!
